Tracking time in Toggl Plan
To track time in Toggl Plan, the integration with Toggl Track, the time tracking tool, has to be enabled. You can read more about the integration HERE.
Manually start and stop timer
You can start and stop a timer in three places in Toggl Plan:
- On timeline view by clicking on the “play” button
- On the board view, by clicking on the “play” button
- On My Tasks view in My Work section, by clicking on the “play” button
Remember: the "play" button will show up when you hover over a task in one of these views.
Your time entries are automatically synced to Toggl Track by starting the timer.
You can stop tracking time the same way you can start it, or by ending the tracking at the bottom right-hand tracker.
Automated time tracking
To make it easier to remember to start and stop your timers, we also start and stop your timers automatically.
When you move your task to “in progress” status, we offer to start your timer. By choosing to start the timer, it will start every time.
If your timer is running, we will offer to stop your timer when you mark the task as “done”. If you choose to stop the timer, we will stop the timer every time you mark the task that has a running timer as “done”.
Creating a time entry based on time estimate
Add time entries manually based on your time estimates: every time you mark a task “done”, you’re asked to create a time entry. Only time estimate of the day you marked the task done will be taken into account. But you can edit the estimate to reflect the actual timely effort.
Opt out from automated time tracking
You can opt out of these settings from under the integration settings. That still enables you to track time in real time.
